Prometric Exam for Nigerian Pharmacists, Dentists and Allied Health Professionals 2026: GCC Licensing Guide for B.Pharm and PharmD, BDS, BMLS, Physiotherapy and Radiography Graduates with PCN, MDCN, MLSCN and MRTB Registration, Good Standing, Attestation, DataFlow, Prometric Centres in Lagos and Abuja, Fees and Salaries

How pharmacists, dentists, medical laboratory scientists, physiotherapists and radiographers from Nigeria get licensed and hired in the Gulf in 2026: how Nigerian degrees map to Gulf titles, PCN, MDCN, MLSCN and MRTB registration and letters of good standing, NYSC and internship documentation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and embassy attestation, DataFlow from Nigerian universities, Prometric centres in Lagos and Abuja, fees in dollars and naira, which countries let you get licensed before an offer, and salaries by country.

Nigeria has become one of the Gulf's fastest-growing sources of healthcare staff, and after nurses and doctors the professions moving in the largest numbers are pharmacists, dentists, medical laboratory scientists, physiotherapists and radiographers. English-language training and British-pattern curricula help, but Nigerian applicants face three recurring obstacles: slow university transcripts and council verifications, registration boards that Gulf authorities do not always recognise automatically, and attestation chains that must run through Abuja. This guide covers each profession step by step. Nurses and doctors have their own guide (Nigerian nurses and doctors).

Nigerian documents you need

  • Council registration and current annual licence from PCN, MDCN, MLSCN, MRTB or RRBN; an expired licence fails DataFlow verification, so renew first.
  • Letter of good standing from the same council, issued within six months of the authority's review and ordered late in the DataFlow window; MDCN typically issues within two to four weeks, and the other boards vary from two to eight weeks (Good Standing guide).
  • Degree certificate and official transcript: request the transcript early, because Nigerian universities can take two to three months to respond to DataFlow, which is the main reason verification from Nigeria takes six to ten weeks.
  • Internship and NYSC certificates: the internship (housemanship for dentists, pharmacy internship, laboratory internship) is verified separately from the degree, and the NYSC year counts as experience only when spent in a clinical post with a proper letter.
  • Experience certificates on registered hospital, pharmacy, laboratory or clinic letterhead with exact dates, hours, duties and HR contacts; experience in an unregistered pharmacy or laboratory, or in a facility that has closed, is the commonest DataFlow failure, so include the facility's registration where possible (format guide).
  • Attestation: Nigeria is not an Apostille Convention member, so degrees are authenticated by the Federal Ministry of Education or the issuing university, then the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, then the destination embassy (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE embassies in Abuja); allow four to eight weeks and start as soon as the offer arrives (attestation guide).
  • Police clearance from the Nigeria Police Force for the visa, and a yellow fever certificate for travel.

Country by country for Nigerian pharmacists, dentists and allied health

DestinationWhat matters
Saudi Arabia (SCFHS)The largest recruiter of Nigerian healthcare staff, with Ministry of Health campaigns interviewing in Lagos and Abuja; Mumaris+ classification, DataFlow, then the SPLE for pharmacists, the SDLE for dentists or the classification exam for allied titles; government hospitals include housing (Saudi pharmacist route, Saudi dentist route)
UAE (DHA, DOH, MOHAP)You can open your own file and pass before an offer; the largest private market for pharmacists and dentists; many Nigerian candidates start with MOHAP as the cheapest entry (DHA pharmacist licence, DHA lab licence, DHA physio licence, DHA radiographer licence)
Qatar (QCHP/DHP)Employer-opened file; Hamad Medical Corporation hires laboratory, pharmacy and imaging staff in cohorts; English test usually waived for Nigerian graduates (QCHP licence)
Bahrain (NHRA) and Oman (OMSB)Bahrain lets you get licensed before an offer and is the cheapest and fastest Gulf licence; Oman recruits laboratory and imaging staff for regional hospitals through the employer (NHRA licence)
Kuwait (MOH)Employer-opened file; strict attestation chain through the Kuwait embassy in Abuja; steady demand for pharmacists and laboratory staff

The exam

Each title has its own Prometric paper of 100 to 150 MCQs in two to three hours with a pass mark of about 50 to 60% (scaled at SCFHS). Nigerian graduates are typically strong in theory and comfortable with English-language questions; the gaps our tutors see are Gulf dispensing law and controlled drug rules for pharmacists, image-based diagnosis and current minimally invasive protocols for dentists, ISO 15189 quality control terminology for laboratory scientists, evidence-based outcome measures for physiotherapists, and radiation protection and contrast safety for radiographers. Prometric centres operate in Lagos and Abuja with limited seats that book out six to ten weeks ahead in recruitment season; candidates who cannot find a seat sometimes sit in Accra or in Dubai (test centres). Prepare with the Pharmacist bank, General Dentist bank, Lab Technologist bank, Physiotherapist bank or Radiographer bank (three timed mocks each, free chapter 1) and the free sample questions for pharmacists, dentists, lab technologists, physiotherapists and radiographers.

Approximate 2026 figures; the naira exchange rate moves sharply, so budget in dollars and convert at the day's rate when paying by card, and expect bank charges on international card payments. Authorities change fees without notice. Full tables are in fees by authority. Never pay an agent for "eligibility", a visa or the exam fee; eligibility comes from the authority and the exam is paid directly to Prometric.

Common problems for Nigerian applicants

  • Transcript delays: request the official transcript from the university registry before starting DataFlow, and follow up in person where possible.
  • Expired council licence: renew with the annual practising fee before applying; an expired licence fails verification.
  • NYSC counted as experience without a clinical letter: obtain a letter from the hospital or pharmacy where NYSC was served stating clinical duties and dates.
  • Attestation started late: the Abuja chain takes four to eight weeks and cannot be skipped for Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar.
  • Exam seats: Lagos and Abuja book out; schedule the exam the day eligibility is released, or plan for Accra or Dubai.
  • Agent fraud: fake "eligibility letters" and visa fees are common; verify every document on the authority's own portal.
