What a GCC medical licence really costs in 2026

Most candidates only budget for the Prometric exam and are surprised when the full bill for a DHA, SCFHS or QCHP licence comes to three or four times that amount. The exam is just one of four separate payments, each made to a different organisation at a different stage: Dataflow for primary source verification, the authority itself for application and evaluation, Prometric (or the authority's own testing platform) for the exam, and finally the authority again for licence issuance once an employer sponsors you.

The calculator above builds that stack line by line. Dataflow is priced per document, so the number of qualifications and employers you declare matters more than the authority you choose. A standard four-document file costs roughly US$220–340; each additional experience letter or certificate adds about US$40–60, and files spanning three or more countries take longer and cost more. Application and evaluation fees are modest — typically US$30–120 — but SCFHS classification and DOH consultant interview panels sit higher.

Exam fees run from about US$180 for a nursing or allied-health paper to US$500 for a consultant-tier physician paper, which is why the profession you select changes the estimate. Licence activation follows the same tier logic: a nurse's DHA licence costs far less than a consultant's. Outside the UAE the sponsoring hospital normally pays this line, so switch on the employer-paid toggle if you already have an offer in Qatar, Bahrain, Oman or Kuwait.

Two optional lines catch the costs people forget. Degree attestation (Ministry of Foreign Affairs plus UAE embassy stamps and courier) is required by most UAE employers and can add US$150–400. A single exam retake repeats the full exam fee — worth budgeting for if you are sitting a specialist paper with a 60–65% cut-off. Before you commit any money, run the free eligibility check to confirm you qualify for the title tier you are paying for, and read the full 2026 Prometric exam fee guide for every GCC authority.

The four payments, explained

Dataflow verification

Primary source verification of your degree, transcript, licence and experience letters. Priced per document — the more employers you list, the more it costs.

Application & evaluation

The portal registration, credential classification and eligibility-review fee charged by the authority (Sheryan, Mumaris+, DHP, Tamm/Riayati).

Prometric / CBT exam

The licensing exam fee, paid to Prometric or the authority's own platform. Specialist and consultant papers carry a higher fee than GP, nurse and allied-health papers.

Licence activation

Issuance of the licence or registration certificate once an employer sponsors you. Frequently employer-paid outside the UAE.

Licence fee FAQs

How much does a GCC medical licence cost in total?

For most candidates the full journey — Dataflow verification, the application or evaluation fee, the Prometric exam and licence issuance — lands between roughly US$700 and US$1,300. Nurses and allied health professionals sit at the lower end; consultant physicians pay more for the exam tier and activation. All figures are approximate and should be verified on the official portal.

Which part of the licensing process is the most expensive?

Dataflow primary source verification is usually the single largest line item. The standard four-document file (degree, transcript, home-country licence, one experience letter) costs about US$220–340 depending on the authority, and every additional document adds roughly US$40–60. Multiple employers or qualifications push the total up quickly.

Does my employer pay for licence activation?

Often, yes. In Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait the sponsoring hospital normally pays the evaluation file and licence issuance fee. In the UAE and Saudi Arabia it varies by employer — many reimburse activation after you join. Toggle the employer-paid option in the calculator to see the difference.

Are these fees the official 2026 rates?

No — they are approximate 2026 ranges compiled from the authority guides on this site and recent candidate receipts, converted with fixed exchange rates. Authorities revise fees, add VAT or change tiers without notice, so always confirm the current amount on the official DHA, MOHAP, DOH, SCFHS, QCHP, NHRA, OMSB or Kuwait MOH portal before paying.
