Most GCC packages add a housing allowance (typically 20–35% of basic) or free hospital accommodation — especially in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman. Ask whether the figure quoted is basic or all-inclusive.

How to read a GCC healthcare salary offer
Gulf salaries look very different depending on which number you compare. Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman quote in dinars and rials worth around US$2.60–3.25 each, so a Kuwaiti nurse offer of KWD 600 is not lower than a Dubai offer of AED 6,000 — it is roughly 20% higher. The calculator above normalises every range to US dollars and to your home currency so that the comparison is like-for-like before allowances are added.
The single biggest driver of pay is your licensed title tier, not the country. A physician licensed as a General Practitioner earns roughly a third of what the same person earns once a recognised specialty certificate upgrades them to Specialist, and Consultant packages double again. That is why it pays to run the free eligibility check before accepting a lower tier — the authority you apply to decides the title, and the title decides the salary band for the life of the licence.
Experience and sector matter, but modestly. Government hospitals (Saudi MOH, Hamad Medical Corporation, SEHA, Kuwait MOH) generally pay 10–15% above private clinics for the same grade and add stronger housing and education benefits, while private groups move faster and reward specialist revenue. Each experience band in the tool nudges the range by 10–30%, which mirrors the grade steps most hospital pay scales use.
Finally, look past the basic figure. Housing allowance or free accommodation, an annual flight, family medical cover, 30 days of leave and an end-of-service gratuity of 21–30 days of basic pay per year can add 30–50% to the real value of a package, especially in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Are GCC healthcare salaries really tax-free?›
Yes. None of the six GCC states levy personal income tax, so the monthly figure in your contract is what reaches your bank account. Saudi Arabia and the UAE apply VAT to purchases, and some countries deduct a small social-insurance contribution from nationals only, but expatriate healthcare workers keep their full salary.
Which GCC country pays nurses the most?›
On a headline basis the UAE and Qatar pay the highest nursing salaries — roughly AED 5,000–10,000 and QAR 6,000–10,000 per month for a registered nurse. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are slightly lower on basic pay but far more likely to include free furnished accommodation and transport, which narrows the real gap considerably.
