Prometric Exam for Indian Physiotherapists, Lab Technologists and Radiographers 2026: GCC Licensing Guide for BPT, MPT, BSc MLT, BSc Radiography and Diploma Holders with Council Registration, Attestation, DataFlow, Exam Centres in India, Fees in INR and Salaries
How physiotherapists, medical laboratory technologists and radiographers from India get licensed and hired in the Gulf in 2026: which Indian degrees and diplomas (BPT, MPT, BSc MLT, DMLT, BSc Radiography, DMRT, BSc Medical Imaging) map to each Gulf title, state council and paramedical board registration, HRD and MEA attestation, DataFlow, Prometric centres in India, fees in INR, preparation and salaries by country.
Indian nurses, doctors and pharmacists each have a dedicated guide; this one covers the three allied professions India supplies to the Gulf in the largest numbers after nursing: physiotherapists, medical laboratory technologists and radiographers. India's qualification landscape is varied (university degrees, state paramedical board diplomas, and a national allied health framework still being rolled out), so mapping your certificate to the right Gulf title is the first and most consequential step. Nurses and doctors should read the Indian nurses and doctors guide; pharmacists the Indian pharmacists guide.
How Indian qualifications map to Gulf titles
| Indian qualification | Usual Gulf title | Exam code |
|---|---|---|
| BPT (four and a half years including internship) plus about two years of experience | Physiotherapist | PHY5121 |
| MPT in a specialty with experience | Physiotherapist, with specialist recognition at many employers | PHY5121 |
| Diploma in physiotherapy | Physiotherapy technician or assistant where the title exists; limited scope and employer demand | Varies |
| BSc Medical Laboratory Technology (three to four years) plus experience | Medical Laboratory Technologist | LAB5631 |
| MSc MLT or MSc in biochemistry, microbiology or haematology with laboratory experience | Technologist, or clinical scientist titles at some authorities | LAB5631 and discipline-specific codes |
| DMLT (two years) plus experience | Medical Laboratory Technician | LAB5601 |
| BSc Radiography, BSc Medical Imaging Technology or BSc Radiology Technology (three to four years) plus experience | Radiographer / Radiology Technologist | RAD5152 |
| DMRT, Diploma in Radiography (two years) plus experience | Radiography Technician | RAD5622 |
Degree holders get the technologist titles with broader scope and higher pay; diploma holders are classified as technicians and some authorities limit their hiring. Run the free eligibility check. Profession guides: physiotherapists, lab technologists, radiographers; discipline-specific laboratory titles are in biochemistry, microbiology and haematology.
Indian documents you need
- Registration: India has no single national register for these professions yet in operation for licensing purposes. Provide what exists: state physiotherapy council registration (for example Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu or Delhi) or the Indian Association of Physiotherapists membership; state paramedical board registration for laboratory and radiography diplomas; and a university letter confirming the programme if no council exists. Ask the target authority what it accepts before DataFlow.
- Good Standing from the registering council where one exists, ordered late in the DataFlow window (council guide).
- Attestation: state HRD, then MEA, then the destination embassy for Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar; apostille for the UAE, Oman and Bahrain (attestation guide).
- Experience certificates with exact dates, department, modalities or sections worked, and HR contacts on registered hospital or laboratory letterhead (format guide). Experience in an unregistered diagnostic centre, or a certificate from a centre that has closed, is the commonest DataFlow failure for Indian lab and radiography staff.
- Radiation safety: radiographers should carry AERB-related training and dosimetry records; Gulf authorities ask for radiation protection evidence at licensing.
- eMigrate clearance for ECR passport holders before departure.
Country by country for Indian allied health
| Destination | What matters |
|---|---|
| Saudi Arabia (SCFHS) | Largest employer of all three professions; Mumaris+ classification, DataFlow, then the classification exam; government hospitals recruit through approved Indian agencies with housing included (Saudi physio route) |
| UAE (DHA, DOH, MOHAP) | You can open your own file and pass before an offer; strong private sector for physiotherapy and imaging; MOHAP is the cheapest entry (DHA physio licence, DHA lab licence, DHA radiographer licence) |
| Qatar (QCHP/DHP) | Employer-opened file; Hamad Medical Corporation hires large cohorts of Indian lab and imaging staff; English test common |
| Kuwait (MOH) | Employer-opened file; strict attestation; steady demand through approved agencies |
| Bahrain and Oman | Smaller markets; Bahrain allows licensing before an offer; Oman recruits Indian lab and imaging staff for regional hospitals |

The exam
Each title has its own Prometric paper of 100 to 150 MCQs in 2 to 3 hours with a pass mark of about 50 to 60% (scaled at SCFHS). Indian candidates are typically strong in theory; the gaps our tutors see are Gulf-style scenario questions, quality control and accreditation rules for laboratory staff (CAP and ISO 15189 terminology), radiation protection and contrast safety for radiographers, and outcome measures and evidence-based protocols for physiotherapists. Prometric centres operate in most Indian metros, with seats that fill weeks ahead during recruitment drives (test centres). Prepare with the Physiotherapist bank, Lab Technologist bank or Radiographer bank (three timed mocks each, free chapter 1) and the free sample questions for physiotherapists, lab technologists and radiographers.
