Prometric Exam for Indian Pharmacists 2026: GCC Licensing Guide for B.Pharm, Pharm.D and D.Pharm Holders, with PCI Registration, Good Standing, DataFlow, Exam Centres in India, Fees in INR and Salaries
A complete guide for pharmacists from India preparing for the Gulf in 2026: which titles B.Pharm, Pharm.D and D.Pharm holders get at DHA, MOHAP, SCFHS, QCHP, NHRA and Kuwait MOH, State Pharmacy Council registration and Good Standing, DataFlow, the Prometric pharmacy exam and SPLE, exam centres in India, fees in INR, preparation and salaries by country.
India produces more pharmacy graduates than any other country, and the Gulf is the first destination for most who go abroad. The route is clear but it depends on one thing more than any other: whether your degree is a B.Pharm, a Pharm.D or a D.Pharm, because that decides your title, your exam and your pay. This guide covers all three.
Which title your Indian degree gets
| Indian qualification | Usual Gulf title | Exam |
|---|---|---|
| B.Pharm (four years) with State Pharmacy Council registration and about two years of experience | Pharmacist | PHO5481 (SPLE in Saudi Arabia) |
| Pharm.D (six years, including the internship year) | Pharmacist; Clinical Pharmacist at some authorities with hospital or residency experience | PHO5481 or PHO5482 |
| M.Pharm (pharmacy practice or clinical pharmacy) on top of a B.Pharm | Pharmacist; supports Clinical Pharmacist classification with experience | PHO5481 or PHO5482 |
| D.Pharm (two-year diploma) | Pharmacy Technician or Assistant Pharmacist, not Pharmacist | PHT5451 |
Experience is counted from registration, usually two years for private employers and the UAE. Run the free eligibility check. D.Pharm holders should read the pharmacy technician guide; Pharm.D holders the clinical pharmacist guide.
Indian documents you need
- State Pharmacy Council registration, current and renewed, from the state where you are registered.
- Good Standing Certificate from the same council, ordered late in the DataFlow window so it is within six months at review; the Pharmacy Council of India provides verification for DataFlow (council-by-council guide).
- Degree, transcripts and internship certificate, with attestation through the state HRD or Home Department, MEA and the destination embassy for Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar (attestation guide).
- Experience certificates with exact dates, your title and HR contact details, on letterhead, from a registered pharmacy or hospital (format guide). Experience in an unregistered medical shop is the most common DataFlow failure for pharmacists.
- eMigrate clearance for ECR passport holders going to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE.
Country by country for Indian pharmacists

|---|---|

| Saudi Arabia (SCFHS) | Mumaris+ classification, DataFlow, then the SPLE; hospital and clinical pharmacy demand is strong, community posts affected by Saudisation (Saudi route, SPLE guide) |
| Qatar (QCHP/DHP) | Employer-opened file; Hamad pays best; English test common (Qatar route) |
| Kuwait (MOH) | Employer-opened file; strict attestation; long history of Indian pharmacists (Kuwait licence guide) |
| Bahrain and Oman | Smaller, accessible markets; Bahrain lets you get licensed before an offer (NHRA and OMSB guide) |
The exam
The pharmacist paper is 100 to 150 MCQs in 2 to 3 hours on pharmacology and therapeutics, calculations, interactions, pharmaceutics, dispensing and counselling, and pharmacy law, with a pass mark of about 60% (scaled at SCFHS). Indian pharmacists are typically strong in pharmacology and weaker in Gulf dispensing law, controlled-drug rules and counselling scenarios, which are a quarter of the paper. Prometric centres operate across India, including Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Kolkata (test centres).
Prepare with the Pharmacist bank (about 3,000 questions, three timed mocks, free chapter 1), the free sample questions and the plan in DHA pharmacist exam preparation. Pharm.D holders applying as clinical pharmacists use the Clinical Pharmacy bank.
