How to Get a Physiotherapist Job in Dubai and the UAE in 2026: Licence, Where Physios Are Hired, CV, Interview Questions, Salary and Visa, Step by Step
A step-by-step plan for physiotherapists who want to work in Dubai and the UAE in 2026: BPT and MPT eligibility, DHA, DOH or MOHAP licensing, the exam, the hospitals, rehab centres, sports clinics and home-care providers that hire, CV and interview tips, salary in AED, INR, PKR and PHP, and the visa.
Physiotherapy demand in the UAE keeps rising: an ageing expatriate population, a large sports and fitness culture, more home-care services and more rehabilitation after surgery. The physios who get hired fastest are the ones who sort out the licence before they apply. Here is the full route.
Step 1: Check your eligibility
- Degree: a recognised bachelor's in physiotherapy (BPT or BSc PT), usually four years plus internship. Shorter diplomas generally lead to a Physiotherapy Technician title instead.
- Experience: usually about two years of clinical experience after qualification, with exact dates on every certificate (format guide).
- Registration: current registration in your home country where it exists, and a Good Standing Certificate.
A master's (MPT) rarely changes your licence title, but it helps for specialised posts such as neuro, paediatric, cardiopulmonary or sports rehabilitation. Run the free eligibility check first.
Step 2: Choose the emirate and licence
- Dubai: DHA (DHA physiotherapist licence).
- Abu Dhabi and Al Ain: DOH, with the exam at Pearson VUE (DOH physiotherapy exam).
- Sharjah and the Northern Emirates: MOHAP or SHA (MOHAP physiotherapy exam).
Dubai has the widest range of physio employers, so it is the usual first choice if you have no offer yet.
Step 3: Pass the exam
The physiotherapy exam is a computer-based MCQ paper of usually 100–150 questions, with a pass mark of about 60%. It covers musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiopulmonary physiotherapy, paediatrics, electrotherapy, exercise prescription and ethics. Prepare with the Physiotherapist question bank, the physiotherapy sample questions with answers and the GCC physiotherapy exam guide.
Apply for jobs once you hold the eligibility letter. Employers can then activate your licence quickly, which puts you ahead of candidates who have not sat the exam.
Step 4: Know where physios are hired
| Setting | What they look for |
|---|---|
| Hospital rehabilitation departments | Orthopaedic, neuro and ICU experience, inpatient caseloads, early mobilisation |
| Rehabilitation and long-term care centres | Stroke, spinal cord injury and post-acute rehab, often with long-stay patients |
| Sports and musculoskeletal clinics | Manual therapy, sports injury management, exercise prescription, certifications such as dry needling or taping |
| Home-care providers | Independent practice, elderly and post-operative patients, a driving licence is a plus |
| Paediatric and special-needs centres | Developmental and neuro-paediatric experience |
There is steady demand for female physiotherapists, because many patients and families prefer a therapist of the same gender. Home care is covered in more detail in home-care jobs in the UAE.
Step 5: Build a CV that gets interviews
- Lead with your licence status: "DHA physiotherapy exam passed, eligibility letter valid until …".
- Show caseload and settings: inpatient or outpatient, patients per day, main conditions treated.
- List techniques and certifications with dates, for example manual therapy, Bobath or neuro courses, dry needling and sports taping.
- Add languages. Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam and Tagalog all help with patients.
See the template in CV for Gulf hospital jobs, then join the physiotherapist talent pool and check the jobs board.
Step 6: Prepare for the interview
- "Walk me through your assessment of a patient with low back pain. What are your red flags?"
- "How would you progress a patient after ACL reconstruction?"
- "A stroke patient's family wants faster results. How do you set goals with them?"
- "When would you stop a treatment session in a cardiac patient?"
- "How do you document a session for insurance approval?"
Many clinics add a practical assessment, such as treating a colleague as a mock patient. More questions are in GCC hospital interview questions.
Step 7: Evaluate the offer
| Title | Monthly (AED) | USD | INR | PKR | PHP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Physiotherapist | AED 7,000–15,000 | USD 1,910–4,080 | INR 167,500–359,500 | PKR 533,500–1,143,500 | PHP 108,500–233,000 |
Salaries are approximate 2026 monthly, tax-free ranges for a mid-experience (3–5 year) hire, blended from published pay scales, recruiter ranges and offers our placement team has seen. Home-currency figures use fixed rates (USD 1 = AED 3.67, SAR 3.75, QAR 3.64, INR 88, PKR 280, PHP 57). Always go by the offer letter.
Outpatient and sports clinics sometimes pay a lower basic with session-based incentives, so ask how many sessions a day the target assumes. Hospitals pay more steadily and usually include housing or an allowance. Compare countries in physiotherapist salary in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and read what to check before accepting a job offer.
Step 8: Licence activation and visa
The employer activates your licence and applies for your entry permit. You then complete the medical test, Emirates ID and residence visa, usually within 2–4 weeks of arrival (onboarding steps).
Frequently asked questions
Can a fresh BPT graduate get a physiotherapy job in Dubai?
Rarely. The licence usually needs about two years of experience after qualification, so most fresh graduates gain experience at home first (routes for fresh graduates).
What is the salary of a physiotherapist in Dubai?
Roughly AED 7,000–15,000 a month tax-free for a mid-experience physiotherapist.
Is MPT required for physiotherapy jobs in the UAE?
No. A recognised BPT is enough for the Physiotherapist licence. MPT helps for specialised roles.
Which emirate has the most physiotherapy jobs?
Dubai, followed by Abu Dhabi, because of the number of hospitals, clinics and home-care providers.
Can I work in home care with a hospital physiotherapy licence?
Your licence is linked to the facility that employs you. To work for a home-care provider, that provider must employ and register you.
