What you need before booking: Your NIHS residency application

Who sets the EMREE exam date

EMREE works differently from every other exam on these pages. It is not a licensing paper and no eligibility ID is involved. The National Institute for Health Specialties (NIHS) runs it as the entrance test for graduates applying to residency training in the UAE, and it belongs to the residency application, so its timing follows that intake.

That makes NIHS the only dependable source for registration windows and sitting dates. They are not reproduced here, because a date copied onto a third-party page cannot be kept in step with the official notice, and acting on a stale one could cost you an intake.

NIHS sets these dates. Plan only around the official NIHS notice for the intake you are applying to. Page last reviewed .

Booking the EMREE exam, in order

  1. 1

Check that residency is what you are applying for

EMREE leads to a training post, not to a licence. If your aim is to be licensed to practise, you need your regulator's licensing exam instead.

  2. 2

Follow the NIHS notice for your intake

Registration windows and exam arrangements are published by NIHS. Dates circulating in forums and chat groups should be treated as rumour until the official notice says the same.

  3. 3

Register exactly as the notice describes

Use the channel and the document list NIHS specifies for that intake, and save the acknowledgement you receive.

  4. 4

    Revise for breadth

Places are competitive and the paper ranges across the major clinical disciplines, so a narrow revision plan is a risk. Timed full-length practice is the best rehearsal for the pace.

  5. 5

Sit the paper and stay with the matching process

The score feeds your residency application. Further instructions come from NIHS, so keep watching the email address you registered with.

EMREE exam dates: questions we are asked

Where do I find the EMREE dates for 2026?

In the NIHS announcement for the residency intake you are applying to. NIHS fixes both the registration window and the sitting, and this page deliberately does not repeat them, so that you never plan around an out-of-date copy.

Can I book EMREE the way I would book a licensing exam?

No. Licensing papers are booked as individual test-centre appointments once a regulator has cleared you. EMREE is tied to the NIHS residency application and is arranged through NIHS. A pass does not license you to practise.
