How to Get a Nursing Job in Sharjah, Ajman and the Northern Emirates in 2026: MOHAP or SHA Licence, Government and Private Hospitals That Hire, GNM Nurses, CV, Interview, Salary and Visa, Step by Step

A step-by-step plan for nurses who want to work in Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah or Umm Al Quwain in 2026: whether you need a MOHAP or SHA licence, the cheapest UAE route and the exam, why GNM nurses often start here, federal and private hospitals that hire, CV and interview tips, salary in AED, INR, PKR and PHP, and the visa process.

Sharjah and the Northern Emirates are where many Gulf nursing careers start: the licence is the cheapest and fastest in the UAE, diploma nurses are more widely accepted, rent is a fraction of Dubai's, and Dubai is a commute away for a later move. This guide covers the licence, the employers and the job search for the five emirates licensed by MOHAP and SHA.

Step 1: Check that you are eligible

  • Qualification: BSc Nursing for the Registered Nurse title; GNM and other three-year diplomas are often accepted by MOHAP and SHA with experience, sometimes as a registered nurse, sometimes as an assistant nurse (GNM nurses in the Gulf).
  • Experience: usually two years after registration.
  • Registration and Good Standing from your home council, and a BLS certificate at licence stage.

Run the eligibility check to see your likely title.

Step 2: MOHAP or SHA, and why it matters

Where the facility isLicence
Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, FujairahMOHAP (the federal Ministry of Health and Prevention)
Federal government hospitals run by Emirates Health Services, in any of these emirates and SharjahMOHAP
Sharjah private hospitals and clinicsSplit: some under SHA (Sharjah Health Authority), others still under MOHAP; the facility decides

If you have no offer yet, MOHAP is the safer default because it covers more facilities, and verified DataFlow data can be transferred to SHA later. Confirm the regulator with HR before opening any file. Routes: MOHAP nursing licence and SHA guide.

Step 3: Get licensed

  1. Evaluation request on MOHAP's licensing services (or the SHA portal), by you or a sponsoring facility. 3 to 7 days.
  2. DataFlow, 5 to 8 weeks (guide).
  3. Prometric exam, the same RNT0312 paper DHA uses: 100 to 150 MCQs, 2 to 3 hours, pass mark about 60%, fee USD 180 to 240. Prepare with the Registered Nurse bank, the sample questions and the MOH exam preparation guide. Assistant nurses use the Assistant Nurse bank.
  4. Licence issuance (USD 160 to 280), activated when a facility links you.

Allow 2.5 to 4 months; the total official cost is the lowest in the UAE (MOHAP fees). Passing before you apply makes you a fast hire.

Step 4: Know who hires nurses in the Northern Emirates

EmployerWhat to expect
Emirates Health Services federal hospitals (Al Qassimi and Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Ajman hospitals, primary care centres)Strongest packages: housing or allowance, ticket, medical cover, gratuity; recruitment campaigns and slower hiring; BSc and specialised nurses favoured
Large private hospitals in Sharjah and AjmanHire all year, directly and through agencies; accommodation or allowance common; GNM nurses accepted with experience
University and teaching hospitals in SharjahCompetitive; prefer BSc and specialty experience
Polyclinics, medical centres, day surgeryRegular hours, lower pay, often no housing
Home care and long-term care providersGrowing demand; shift-based (home care jobs)

Join the UAE talent pool and the nurse talent pool; Sharjah and Ajman hospitals search for MOHAP-eligible nurses because they can start within weeks. Live roles are on the jobs board.

Step 5: CV and interview

  • Lead with "MOHAP eligibility" or "MOHAP exam passed", then units, bed numbers, procedures and systems.
  • Expect scenario questions on deteriorating patients, medication safety, infection control and documentation (interview questions).
  • Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam and Tagalog all help with patients in these emirates.

Step 6: Understand the salary

Registered NurseAED 4,500 to 8,000USD 1,230 to 2,180INR 108,000 to 192,000PKR 343,000 to 610,000PHP 70,000 to 124,000

Approximate 2026 monthly, tax-free ranges for a mid-experience (3 to 5 year) hire, from the lower half of the UAE-wide bands in our salary data and offers our placement team has seen; fixed rates (USD 1 = AED 3.67, INR 88, PKR 280, PHP 57). Always go by the offer letter.

Pay is 10 to 20% below Dubai, but rent is less than half, so savings are often similar. The full breakdown by employer, with cost of living, is in nurse salary in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates. Check the offer against what to check before accepting.

Step 7: Visa, and the move to Dubai later

The employer activates your licence and issues the entry permit; you complete the medical, Emirates ID and residence visa within 2 to 4 weeks of arrival (onboarding steps). After a year or two, many nurses transfer to DHA using the same DataFlow report and their UAE experience letter (licence transfer); the Dubai route is in how to get a nursing job in Dubai.
