Is the Prometric Exam Valid in All GCC Countries? Which Results Transfer Between DHA, MOHAP, DOH, SCFHS, QCHP, NHRA, OMSB and Kuwait MOH, How Long a Pass Lasts, and What Actually Carries Over (2026)
The honest answer to whether a Prometric exam pass is valid across the Gulf in 2026: which authorities share the same exam code, which accept another authority's result and under what conditions, how long a pass and an eligibility letter remain valid, what transfers (DataFlow, experience) and what does not, and the cheapest order in which to get licensed in more than one country.
"I passed the DHA exam. Can I work in Saudi Arabia?" is one of the most common questions we receive, and the short answer is no, not directly. The Prometric exam is a service that delivers each authority's own paper; it is not a single Gulf licence. But the picture is better than that sounds, because the papers share a blueprint and parts of your file do carry over. This guide explains exactly what transfers and what does not.
One exam provider, many separate exams
Prometric (and Pearson VUE for DOH Abu Dhabi) is the test centre. The exam itself belongs to the licensing authority: DHA writes the DHA paper, SCFHS the SNLE or SMLE, QCHP its own. Passing one authority's paper gives you eligibility with that authority only. There is no GCC-wide exam certificate.
Where the same exam is shared
| Authorities | What is shared | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| DHA, MOHAP and SHA (UAE) | The same Prometric exam codes (RNT0312, GEN5331 and so on) and the unified UAE qualification framework | A pass with one UAE authority is usually recognised by the others when you transfer, subject to validity and their own file; you do not normally re-sit |
| DOH Abu Dhabi | Same UAE framework, different delivery (Pearson VUE) | DOH generally accepts a valid DHA or MOHAP pass on transfer within the UAE, with a fresh DOH file and DataFlow package |
| SCFHS, QCHP, NHRA, OMSB, Kuwait MOH | The same professional blueprint, but each sets its own paper | Your preparation carries over; your pass does not. Each requires its own exam, with limited exceptions below |
The UAE unified framework is explained in how to transfer a licence between DHA, MOHAP and DOH.
Exceptions and partial recognition
- Active Gulf licence with experience. Several authorities, including NHRA, OMSB and at times QCHP and SCFHS, have waived or simplified the exam for professionals who hold a current licence from another GCC authority with a minimum period of Gulf practice (commonly two years). Rules change, and the waiver is applied at evaluation, not promised in advance. Ask the authority or an evaluator before you assume.
- Exempt qualifications. Holders of listed Western boards and fellowships skip the written exam at most authorities regardless of previous Gulf exams (exemptions).
- DataFlow transfer. Your primary source verification report can be transferred to another authority for a reduced fee, saving weeks (DataFlow guide).
How long a pass and an eligibility letter last
| Authority | Typical validity of a pass or eligibility |
|---|---|
| DHA | Eligibility letter after a pass is valid for a limited period, usually about one year, during which you must be linked by an employer; it can lapse if unused (if eligibility expires) |
| MOHAP and SHA | Similar to DHA: a pass supports a licence that must be activated by a facility within a set period |
| DOH | Licence issued after the pass must be activated by an Abu Dhabi facility; lapses if unused |
| SCFHS | Exam results feed professional classification and registration, which is then renewed periodically with CME |
| QCHP, NHRA, OMSB, Kuwait MOH | Pass leads to registration or licence tied to the sponsoring employer; unused results lapse after a set period |
In practice, a pass that is not turned into an active licence within about a year is at risk everywhere. Renewal and CME rules are in licence renewal requirements.
What transfers, what does not
| Item | Transfers between Gulf authorities? |
|---|---|
| Exam pass | Within the UAE, usually. Between countries, no, except by waiver for experienced licence holders |
| DataFlow report | Yes, by transfer request, with a smaller fee and sometimes re-verification of Good Standing |
| Good Standing Certificate | No; each authority wants a fresh one within six months, now including a Gulf good standing from your current authority (guide) |
| Experience | Yes, and Gulf experience counts heavily; get a dated experience letter from your Gulf employer |
| Preparation | Yes. The same question bank prepares you for every Gulf paper in your profession |
| Licence | No. Each country issues its own |
The cheapest order to hold two licences
- Pass one exam and work for about two years in that country.
- Get a dated experience letter and a Gulf Good Standing Certificate.
- Transfer your DataFlow report to the second authority.
- Ask the second authority whether your licence and experience qualify for an exam waiver; if not, sit its paper, which covers the same blueprint you already passed.
The country choice itself is compared in DHA vs SCFHS and choosing the right GCC country.
Next steps
If you are choosing a first country, run the eligibility check for the authorities you are considering. Prepare once with the bank for your profession on the exams page, because it serves every authority, and join the GCC talent pool with all your target countries so employers in each can request your profile.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Prometric exam the same for all GCC countries?
No. Prometric delivers each authority's own paper. The blueprints are shared, so preparation is interchangeable, but a pass belongs to one authority.
Can I use my DHA exam result in Saudi Arabia?
Not directly. SCFHS requires its own exam unless it grants a waiver for an experienced licence holder. Your DataFlow report and experience do transfer.
Can I use my DHA exam result in Abu Dhabi or Sharjah?
Usually yes, within the UAE unified framework, with a fresh file and DataFlow package for DOH, MOHAP or SHA.
How long is a Prometric exam pass valid?
It depends on the authority, but a pass that is not activated into a licence within about a year is at risk of lapsing everywhere.
Do I need to sit the exam again if I move from Qatar to the UAE?
Generally yes for the UAE authority's paper, unless an exemption applies. Your DataFlow and Gulf experience shorten the process.
