Nepal flagThe SHA pathway from Nepal

Nepali nurses and doctors head mainly to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE, and their numbers have grown quickly as GCC hospitals widen recruitment beyond the traditional source countries. Regulators are now familiar with the NNC and NMC registers, but the PCL nursing route still needs careful title planning.

With Kathmandu as the only Prometric centre in Nepal, many candidates also book Delhi or Kolkata to get an earlier date. Either works — the eligibility ID from the authority is what matters, not where you sit.

The newest UAE regulator - separate from MOHAP for Sharjah-based private and government facilities. Read the full SHA licensing guide and the United Arab Emirates licensing overview for the complete document checklist.

Nepal-specific notes

Good Standing councils
  • Nurses: Nepal Nursing Council (NNC)
  • Doctors: Nepal Medical Council (NMC)
  • Pharmacists: Nepal Pharmacy Council (NPC)
  • Allied: Nepal Health Professional Council (NHPC)
DataFlow & attestation

Verification of Nepal-issued documents typically takes 5–9 weeks — the longest single step in the SHA process.

Documents typically need Ministry of Education, then Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kathmandu), then destination-embassy attestation — several Gulf embassies are in Delhi rather than Kathmandu, so allow extra courier time.

Prometric centres in Nepal
Kathmandu

Once SHA issues your eligibility ID you can book any of these centres — or any Prometric centre in the Gulf — from your Prometric account. Centre availability changes; book as early as your preparation allows.

Fees in NPR

Indicative conversions at roughly Rs135 per US dollar. All figures are approximate — authorities and Prometric charge in their own currency and rates move.

Common problems for Nepali applicants

  • NNC and NMC Good Standing letters delayed when the council's own register hasn't been updated after renewal
  • Degrees earned in India or Bangladesh that need verification from the foreign university as well as the Nepali council
  • Experience letters from smaller hospitals without an official email domain for verifiers to use
  • Name mismatch between passport, degree certificate and council registration (a missing middle name or a different spelling is enough to stall DataFlow)
  • Experience letters that don't state the hospital's bed count, your exact dates or the HR office contact details verifiers will phone
  • Internship or house-job time counted as post-qualification experience — every GCC authority counts experience only after full registration
  • Lapsed or un-renewed home-council registration at the time the Good Standing Certificate is requested

Most of these are cheap to fix before DataFlow starts and expensive afterwards — the free eligibility check flags them from your documents.

Which Nepal councils issue the Good Standing Certificate SHA needs?
