Government vs private
- Government (the national hospital system, primary health care centres and other state-funded providers): structured grades, accommodation or housing allowance, transport, annual ticket, long leave and family benefits at higher grades. Pay towards the upper part of the band.
- Specialist and semi-government hospitals: competitive packages, often for specialised and paediatric nurses.
- Private hospitals and clinics: faster hiring, salaries across the full band, accommodation often shared.
The main employers are listed in hospitals hiring international nurses.
By experience
- 0–2 years: about 10% below the band — and most authorities require two years' experience for the licence, so true entry posts are rare.
- 3–5 years: the band above.
- 6–10 years: about 15% above.
- 10+ years / senior or supervisor: about 30% above.
- Government employer: about 10% above private, with stronger benefits.

What the package includes
- Accommodation provided, or a housing allowance — in Doha worth a substantial part of the package.
- Transport by staff bus or an allowance.
- Annual return ticket and around 30 days' leave.
- Medical cover through the employer.
- End-of-service gratuity: at least three weeks' basic salary per year of service under Qatari labour law; government contracts are often more generous.
- No income tax.
Ask for every line in writing. A higher "all-in" figure without accommodation can be worth less than a lower basic with housing.
Qatar vs the UAE and Saudi Arabia
Qatar and the UAE share the top of the band; Saudi Arabia pays slightly less but has more vacancies (Saudi nurse salary, Dubai nurse salary, three-country comparison).
How to get there
In Qatar the employer usually opens your licensing file, so the job offer comes first. The route — DataFlow, the Prometric nursing exam and licensing through the Department of Healthcare Professions — is in how to get a nursing job in Qatar and the Qatar nursing exam guide.
