Saudi Arabia employs more expatriate nurses than any other Gulf country, and the pay range is wide: the same registered nurse can be offered SAR 4,500 by one hospital and nearly double by another. The difference is the employer type, the specialty and the package around the basic salary. This guide sets out 2026 pay and how to compare offers.

Salaries are approximate 2026 monthly, tax-free ranges for a mid-experience (3–5 year) hire, blended from published pay scales, recruiter ranges and offers our placement team has seen. By employer type
- Government health clusters (MOH): structured scales, housing, flights and generous leave. Pay in the middle to upper part of the band.
- Military, National Guard and specialist hospitals: the best nursing packages in the country, usually recruiting experienced and specialised nurses with strong English.
- Large private hospital groups: faster hiring, basic salaries across the whole band, accommodation often shared for first contracts.
- Small private hospitals, polyclinics, home care: the lower end. Read every line of the offer.
Some private employers still set pay by the country of the qualification. Ask the recruiter what the scale is for your title rather than accepting the first figure. The main employer groups are listed in hospitals hiring international nurses.
By experience
- 2 years (the usual minimum): around 10% below the reference band.
- 3–5 years: the reference band above.
- 6–10 years: 10–15% above, more with a specialty.
- 10+ years with leadership: 25–30% above, moving into charge and supervisor roles.
What the package includes
- Accommodation provided, or a housing allowance of roughly 25% of basic.
- Transport by hospital bus or an allowance of about 10% of basic.
- Annual return ticket and 30 days' leave is common for nurses.
- Medical insurance — mandatory for the employee.
- Night and on-call differentials — ask what a typical month adds.
- End of service: half a month's wage per year for the first five years, a full month per year after.
- No income tax, and no social insurance deduction for non-Saudi nurses.
