Nigerian doctors and nurses are one of the fastest-growing candidate groups for Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar. Fellowship-trained doctors (NPMCN and West African College) are well understood by GCC regulators, and BNSc nurses classify cleanly; the diploma RN route needs more careful title planning, particularly for SCFHS.

The practical difference for Nigerian applicants is verification time. DataFlow depends on NMCN, MDCN and university responses, which can be slower than in South or South-East Asia — plan on 6–10 weeks rather than 4–6, and request council verification letters as early as possible.

  • BNSc (Bachelor of Nursing Science, 5-year)

Diploma route
  • 3-year RN (Registered Nurse) diploma from a school of nursing
  • RN + RM (Registered Midwife) combined
ClassificationDiploma RNs are typically accepted as Registered Nurse in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman with around 2 years' post-registration experience. SCFHS generally maps the 3-year RN diploma to Nurse Technician; BNSc is the safer route for Saudi Arabia.
Doctors
Basic qualification (GP tier)

MBBS / MBChB from an MDCN-accredited university, plus completed housemanship and full MDCN registration

Usually accepted for Specialist
  • Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCP, FMCS, FMCOG etc.)
  • Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians / Surgeons (FWACP / FWACS)
  • MRCP / MRCOG / FRCS or other recognised international boards
Usually not enough on its own
  • Membership (Part I) of NPMCN or the West African Colleges alone — Part II fellowship is what authorities read as Specialist
  • Diploma-level postgraduate certificates without a fellowship

Pharmacists

B.Pharm or PharmD from a PCN-accredited faculty with PCN registration and completed internship year.

Allied health

BMLS with MLSCN registration, BPT / BMR with MRTB registration, or BSc Radiography with RRBN registration.

Degrees usually need Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Abuja) attestation, then the destination-country embassy. Some candidates also obtain a university 'letter of authentication' to speed DataFlow.

Common problems for Nigerian applicants

  • NMCN and MDCN verification letters that take several weeks — the councils verify by post/email and DataFlow cannot proceed until they respond
  • Universities without a functioning verification desk, so DataFlow escalates the request repeatedly
  • Experience letters from private hospitals without a switchboard number or official email for verifiers to call
  • Name mismatch between passport, degree certificate and council registration (a missing middle name or a different spelling is enough to stall DataFlow)
  • Experience letters that don't state the hospital's bed count, your exact dates or the HR office contact details verifiers will phone
  • Internship or house-job time counted as post-qualification experience — every GCC authority counts experience only after full registration
  • Lapsed or un-renewed home-council registration at the time the Good Standing Certificate is requested
