Doctor Salary in Qatar 2026: GP, Specialist and Consultant Pay, Specialty Premiums, Government vs Private Packages — in QAR, USD, Rupees and Pesos

What doctors earn in Qatar in 2026: monthly tax-free QAR ranges for GPs, specialists and consultants, how your DHP/QCHP title sets your grade, the highest-paid specialties, government vs private packages, end-of-service and conversions to USD, INR and PKR.

Qatar offers some of the strongest doctor packages in the Gulf, especially in government service. As everywhere in the region, the salary is set by the title the regulator grants you — GP, specialist or consultant — so that is where any comparison starts.

Salaries are approximate 2026 monthly, tax-free ranges for a mid-experience (3–5 year) hire, blended from published pay scales, recruiter ranges and offers our placement team has seen. Home-currency figures use fixed rates (USD 1 = AED 3.67, SAR 3.75, QAR 3.64, INR 88, PKR 280, PHP 57). Always go by the offer letter.

Qatar has no personal income tax, so the contract figure is what you take home.

Your title decides your grade

The Department of Healthcare Professions (formerly QCHP) grants the title after DataFlow and evaluation. A recognised postgraduate qualification plus post-qualification experience gives a specialist title; without it you are licensed as a GP whatever your role at home. Check which qualifications count in FCPS, MRCP, MD and Arab Board recognition and the full route in the QCHP licence guide.

What moves the number

  • Experience: about 10% below the band in the first years of a grade, 15% above at 6–10 years and 30% above beyond that.
  • Employer: government posts pay about 10% more and carry the strongest benefits.
  • Specialty: anaesthesia, ICU, emergency medicine, interventional cardiology, radiology and neurosurgery sit at the top; family and internal medicine in the middle.

The salary calculator applies these factors and converts to your currency.

What the package includes

  • Housing: furnished accommodation or a housing allowance, typically family-sized at specialist level and above.
  • Transport allowance.
  • Annual flights for you and your family.
  • Children's education allowance at senior grades in many government contracts.
  • Leave of 30 days or more, plus CME leave and allowance for consultants.
  • End of service: at least three weeks' basic per year under the labour law, more under many government contracts.
  • Malpractice cover normally provided by the employer (malpractice insurance).

Qatar vs the UAE and Saudi Arabia

Qatar and the UAE have similar headline bands; the UAE has more private-sector posts and a higher ceiling for private consultants (UAE doctor salary). Saudi Arabia is slightly lower but has the largest number of vacancies (Saudi doctor salary). All six countries are compared in the GCC salary comparison.

How to get there

In Qatar the employer usually opens your licensing file, so getting visible to Qatari employers comes first: have your documents DataFlow-ready and join the Qatar talent pool. Exam preparation is on the QCHP exam for doctors page, and fees are in Qatar Prometric exam fees.
